How dare you say Charlie Kirk chose to die!
He did choose to die and the real question is have you made that same choice as someone who calls themself a disciple of Jesus?
Jesus said in John 12:25 – Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.
Jesus also said in John 15:18-25:
“If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you. Do you remember what I told you? ‘A slave is not greater than the master.’ Since they persecuted me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to me, they would listen to you. They will do all this to you because of me, for they have rejected the one who sent me. They would not be guilty if I had not come and spoken to them. But now they have no excuse for their sin. Anyone who hates me also hates my Father. If I hadn’t done such miraculous signs among them that no one else could do, they would not be guilty. But as it is, they have seen everything I did, yet they still hate me and my Father. This fulfills what is written in their Scriptures: ‘They hated me without cause.’
Well what does that have to do with Charlie Kirk being assassinated?
I didn’t know Charlie Kirk personally, but I did get to meet him at his Turning Point fundraiser in December of 2023 with some of my friends and my wife Liliana. I can’t say I know much about him personally, but what I can say is every talk he gave, every stance he made, and every message he spoke he stood on the truth of God’s Word 100%.
In fact I had thought many times for a guy in his 30’s that didn’t go to Bible College that this man new the Bible better than 99% of the Pastors in pulpits in America!
At this point let’s get past the issues of MAGA, Republican, Democrat blah blah blah! There are only 2 sides on this earth right now. You either side with the World (aka the Devil and those he controls) or you are on the side of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ who came to Earth, died on the cross, and rose again and is now seated at the right hand of the Father with the keys of both death and hell!
So lets stop saying well I’m democrat or I’m a Baptist or I’m an Atheist, or I am Non Binary. As those of us moving forward we need to decide what side are we going to choose. Because the battle is for the souls of this Earth not labels we can tout around as if it gives us some additional rights or privileges over any other human on this planet.
Here is some more Scripture I would like you to read James 4 but here is an excerpt from James 4:4,5
You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. Do you think the Scriptures have no meaning? They say that God is passionate that the spirit he has placed within us should be faithful to Him.
Yeah but what does that have to do with Charlie Kirk?
Again I did not know the man personally, but I can tell you by his words and by his deeds that he not only had an intimate knowledge of the Bible, but with that cultivated an intimate relationship with the Lord.
Which means Charlie Kirk counted the cost of what he believed God’s call was on his life. What did Charlie do? Well Charlie Kirk was probably the farthest reaching, greatest impacting, and most effective Evangelist to an entire generation of young people we have ever seen.
He didn’t do this at some evangelistic church crusade, or at some fancy church building, he physically went to school campuses all over the United States and set up an opportunity to speak truth and allow anyone to ask questions and/or debate him.
Charlie Counted the Cost and so Should You and I
Jesus talked about in Luke 14:25-35 – What it meant to count the cost to be a disciple of Jesus. This isn’t about slapping on a WWJD bracelet and head off to your favorite church service without any care in the world.
The decision Charlie Kirk made was He would stand for the Word of God and righteousness and not waiver in the face of adversity or even his death.
People are going to make this about MAGA, and they’re going to scream about GUN CONTROL and they are going to point fingers at this party or that party. But the bottom line is that we are at WAR!! This war is not with each other it is the war that has been raging since the beginning of time.
Ephesians 6:12 – For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
And that spiritual battle showed up in the physical world for all to see on September 10th when Charlie Kirk was shot and killed!
Oh the devil and his demons were so excited to see this as a WIN for the side of evil! But they continue to miscalculate God the Father, His Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit who is moving amongst us even now.
The miscalculation is that if he could just eliminate Charlie Kirk and his voice that the side of Good will shrink back in fear. But I believe is happening is every single person who calls themself a disciple in Christ has had to ask themselves this same question.
Have I counted the cost of following Jesus? And am I willing to be ridiculed, persecuted, embarrassed, harassed, jailed, and ultimately be killed for the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
Here is the action I am personally taking in response to this travesty! And I believe Charlie Kirk would have a similar message to us all.
#1 FIND YOUR FAITH
Get back to your first love that is Jesus Christ. Get back to knowing God and his will for your life by picking up your Bible and read it like your LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!! —- Because it does.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Romans 12:1 – I beseech[ you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
2 Timothy 3:16 – All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
#2 FIND YOUR FAMILY
Romains 12:3-8 – 3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. 4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement;if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,[b] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Phillipians 1:27-30 –
Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News. Don’t be intimidated in any way by your enemies. This will be a sign to them that they are going to be destroyed, but that you are going to be saved, even by God himself. For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him. We are in this struggle together. You have seen my struggle in the past, and you know that I am still in the midst of it.
#3 FIND YOUR FIGHT!
What gets us up in the morning? What is the battle in our lives that many of us have become too complacent to not only recognize, but to FIGHT!
Well let’s start with the last words of Jesus on this Earth:
Matthew 28:19-20 – Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Our battle is won through LOVE not the kind of love that is conditional, but the kind of love that is transformative like Jesus modeled for us.
1 John 4:7-11 –
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
Romans 12:9-21 –
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary:“If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
1 Peter 3:13-17 –
And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.” But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
Charlie Kirk never claimed to be a perfect man. Charlie Kirk had flaws just like the rest of us. You may have even be frustrated with his methods, but read the Bible the religious folks of Jesus time were frustrated with His methods too. But what I want us all to remember about Charlie Kirk is the one thing he said many times when he spoke.
Charlie said, “I want to be remembered for my faith in Jesus Christ” and guess what he stood and he died for that faith!!
And as I think about Charlie and all of us moving forward I think about what Paul wrestled with in his own life that led him to say these words:
Philippians 1:20-26 Paul said;
For I fully expect and hope that I will never be ashamed, but that I will continue to be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past. And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die. For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better. But if I live, I can do more fruitful work for Christ. So I really don’t know which is better. I’m torn between two desires: I long to go and be with Christ, which would be far better for me. But for your sakes, it is better that I continue to live. Knowing this, I am convinced that I will remain alive so I can continue to help all of you grow and experience the joy of your faith. And when I come to you again, you will have even more reason to take pride in Christ Jesus because of what he is doing through me.
THIS IS THE CALL TO ALL OF US WHO PUT OUR FAITH IN JESUS
Hebrews 12:1-4 – Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin.
Praise the Lord for Charlie Kirk’s life!! He has finished his race on this Earth, and he has now passed the baton to each and every one of us!!
{Hebrews 12:12,13}
So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.
JESUS SAYS TO YOU AND ME!
John 16:33 – I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because;
I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD!!
